An Installation
Whitney Museum's 7th floor is a host to Louise Nevelson’s Young Shadows. The almost functional look made me think of finding an object such as this long after we have forgotten what art is.
In the far-flung future, a toothless man tinkers with a trembling obelisk. His hands leaking of chrome leave fingerprints and smudges over the refracting crystal. He walks another tour around, deepening the circle in constantly rebounding red dust.
“Maybe… a light source?”, the man ponders the function.
What other reason would there be for an object this precious to exist?
